Statement

If there is one place in this World were the name International Kenpo Karate Association, the IKKA, has been kept alive until this very day, it is in Europe.

Under the charismatic leadership of SGM Ed Parker and with the support of his family and so many others, the old IKKA fulfilled its tasks up until his passing in 1990.

After that, many started their own organizations, but somehow the old IKKA seemed to survive with many members around the world and with the strong support of Mrs. Leilani Parker.

John McSweeney introduced Kenpo to Europe when he started teaching in Dublin in 1963. In the1970’s many European countries were introduced to Kenpo Karate by individual instructors who trained in the USA, as well as by the unselfish, hard work of  Rainer Schulte, formerly the IKKA European Director.
Also as far back as from the 1970’s the Europeans had their yearly European and even World Championships for which Roy Macdonald from Jersey (UK) lay the foundation.

That yearly European tournament plus our ongoing networking between European countries and the support of Doreen Cogliandro (from 1993) and Gilbert Velez (from 1992) from the USA, kept many of us connected to the old IKKA up to the passing of Mrs. Leilani Parker in 2006.

IKKA shoulder rockers are still to be seen by the hundreds in many European countries and at the Golden IKC in 2006 in The Netherlands, celebrating 50 years of Kenpo, we decided to keep the name we had for so long and in  “debt of honour”  to our SGM Ed Parker.

However we DID change one word just to show that while the “old IKKA” has left us, we never left the IKKA and so we decided to continue under the name International Kenpo Karate Alliance, being an umbrella Association to create Worldwide Alliances with everybody of good will, honesty and integrity.
Our International Kenpo Karate Alliance will work with Boards of Advisors on country, continental and world wide level. The explanation of that and who is already connected to one of those Boards, will be shown on different pages of this website.

So, we are there for you all and wish you all to be networking with us in Alliance with each other to support all great initiatives in this world for the sake of perpetuating and developing our beloved art of Kenpo Karate.

The IKKAlliance Golden IKC 2006 in The Netherlands already brought together over 40 instructors from different countries in the world during 4 tournament and seminar days.

The next big IKKAlliance happenings are in Mexico July 19-22, 2007 with IKC 2007. Contact: www.ikkamexico.com

With a fantastic follow up with IKC 2008 being held on the beautiful Isle of Jersey ( UK).

History

Over the past 45 years SGM Parker´s Kenpo Karate has been practiced in many countries in Europe and still every year new European countries are added.

From the early 1960´s the International Kenpo Karate Association was introduced to Europe and up until this day many instructors from Europe are still working under that association´s name.

Universal PatternMr. Roy Macdonald gave Europe the first real European Championships on the Isle of Jersey starting in 1982.
After that year and up until this day Europe has had its yearly training camps/championships that drew so many students and instructors from all over the world that one might say it has always been truly international, world wide…………and ALWAYS under the name that has guided us all, the IKKA.

During all those years a hardcore group of European instructors stuck together to network with each other and keep that tournament going no matter what..!

For a long time Mr. Rainer Schulte influenced that group in his appointed position by SGM. Parker as European Director for the IKKA.

After he left for the U.S.A. in the early 1990´s, to live there in retirement, but never leaving Kenpo, the European IKKA-group had the yearly support of Mr.Gilbert Velez and Mrs. Doreen Cogliandro and most of all up until she no longer could, with the inspiring efforts and help of Mrs. Leilani Parker as IKKA president (1991-2003).

In 2006 Hans Hesselmann organized the 50th Anniversary of Mr. Parker´s Kenpo under the name of the Golden IKC in the Netherlands. With lots of help from so many others he was able to hold not only one of the biggest European based tournaments ever, but also managed to have a seminar schedule for a full two days with over 30 well known instructors from all over the world.

During their IKKA meeting at that Championship in 2006 this hardcore IKKA group that was still working together decided to continue their yearly efforts under that name, changing just one word: Association became Alliance.

That word Alliance really signified their way of thinking towards working on a global level with just everybody of good will, honesty and integrity.

The International Kenpo Karate Alliance became a fact.

The activities of our IKKAlliance wil become even more spectacular in 2008 with the Championships on the isle of Jersey – UK. Mr. Roy Macdonald and his crew will even go beyond the  2006 success of the Golden IKC with more countries in attendance, more participants, more divisions in the championships and most of all over 96 seminars for our students done by over 40 of the best European and Worldwide instructors. Those instructors who are working together under that name IKKAlliance are mentioned on "Boards"

Boards

1. European, U.S.A. and other instructors from one of the 5 World Continents may work together in Boards of Advisors. Those Boards may function independent from involvement in whatever Association one belongs to. Those Associations and their Board members will then work in alliance with the IKKAlliance.

2. The IKKAlliance has its own advisory board structure.
In this way the IKKAlliance may open up networking with everyone and every organisation that stands for honesty and integrity. It will  promote goodwill and work to  create get togethers with each other in any way that might be of mutual interest and encourage positive development.

3. Personal-, own - association, country or continental “ politics” are of NO interest to the IKKAlliance. We are absolutely non-political, but may have our standpoint concerning various issues and we are willing to give you our point of view when called upon to give advise. Likewise the IKKAlliance shall not interfere in personal, own-association, country or continental issues when advice has not been sought.
